4 Elements (modified) 18″x24″ acrylic on canvas.
C.M. Foust 2015

Over the 4th of July holiday, I painted (see painting here). I liked the outcome, with each part of the diamond representing fire, water, earth, and air. I even hung it on my wall! But every time I looked up at it over the past few months, I felt that it wasn’t finished.

The background was just too … blah.

A few weeks ago, I finally decided to do something about it. The end result is the picture in this post.

I like it so much more. It’s more colorful. More dynamic. More fun.

Updating this project was a good lesson. It’s a reminder that sometimes we can go back to those things that seem unfinished.

It’s not true with everything, but it is true with art.

I think it’s also true for forgiveness and reconnecting with old friends.

Others?

  1. I think it’s definitely true of travel – revisiting locations and getting much “more” out of your time and choices. I liked the question

    1. Good example too, and I agree! When I revisit places I always get even more out of the experience.

I think it’s true with rereading books too.
