This week I get to submit my entries for the Tampa Arts Council 5×5 event. Artists from around the world (!!) create 5”x5”(x5” potentially) pieces of art. The art is then sold anonymously for $25 at a fundraising event at the Tampa Museum of Art, and money goes towards grants to support artists through the Tampa Arts Council.
Last year I created two mosaics.
This year I’ve been playing with paint, so I decided to create two 5”x5” paintings. I based them off of pictures I had taken, and I got some Facebook feedback from friends on which pictures I should use. Below are the winning pictures:
Staircase from my lodging in Amsterdam |
Flower of the cactus growing on the tree in my back yard |
Here are the resulting paintings:
It’s a Long Way Down |
Cactus Flower |
I’m still a novice painter, but I’m pretty pleased with the way they turned out. I hope they both sell at the event…
Thank you to my Facebook friends for helping me pick out the pictures. The flower was much harder for me, but I’m still pleased with it.
