Smoothies Galore

Healthy livin’ went out the window a long time ago. I haven’t gone for a run since January, I think. I sporadically eat healthily, but in the in between fast food, other restaurant food, and prepared Publix food slides itself into my diet.

More importantly, I’m feeling it. I’m tired. I’m gaining excess weight, and I’m at the upper threshold of where I want and should be to be healthy. I can feel it in my face and my love handles…

Ain’t no use in complaining. I decided to finally do something about it. In the interest of healthy living, I looked for a healthy cleanse. I found this smoothie cleanse here. Since it’s getting you to eat (really, drink) lots of healthy veggies and fruits, I decided to give it a go.

Today is day 1, so I’ve been making up the smoothies. I’m drinking my first green one as I type. Initial thoughts? My food processor leaves the smoothies a little chunky. I need to add more liquid when I’m food processing next time. The green smoothie isn’t terrible, but it isn’t wonderful either. I’m looking forward to the fruity ones more. I’ll probably substitute almond milk in for the cashew milk occasionally, but I don’t plan on drinking it every day.

The green smoothie isn’t terrible, but it isn’t wonderful either. Even with apples in there it tastes … green. I’m looking forward to the fruity ones more. The plan calls for three days. I’m going to try to go a week, though I won’t be completely true to the smoothie cleanse. I’ll throw in some eggs for protein sporadically, perhaps some oatmeal in the morning. I want to be healthy while doing this little experiment.

Finished the first green one. Maybe I’ll add some cayenne pepper or some more lemon juice. Currently it tastes a bit like what I imagine grass tastes like. Still, it feels good to eat (drink) some healthy, tasty veggies.
