Take Care of Yourself

The tree and mistletoe are up. I’ve bought gifts for work-related holiday festivities. But I didn’t send out holiday cards this year. I haven’t bought or made gifts for my nearest and dearest.

This year it’s felt like too much…

Which is not to say I’m depressed or even “Bah Humbug.” I’m in good spirits, though I’d hesitate to call myself jolly. I feel extremely grateful for many things that have happened this year.

As far as the holidays go, I’ve been tired and at that “too busy” threshold for a little too long. Maintaining is about the only thing I can handle right now.

I’m a big proponent of evaluating how you feel in a situation and listening to your body and intuition. Especially in times of stress. And it’s funny how a time of celebration, gratitude, and new beginnings has become that. Stressful.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by presents, parties, decorating, traveling, and all of the other things that can go along with the holidays, I hope you’ll pause and ask yourself if you really want to do it. Is it good for your mental and emotional health to do it?

Maybe your best gift to others will be taking care of yourself.
