Unexpected Visitor

I was awoken from a nap by a gentleman in my bedroom. No, this was not a case of afternoon delight. Instead, I was awoken by a strange man saying, “Hello?” to see if anyone was home.

Once the man saw I was there, he apologized, excused himself, and exited the apartment, relocking the door before exiting.

I got out of bed and went to talk to them. Seems they are appraisers. Apparently, we were supposed to have been notified that they’d be coming around appraising our places. I asked a neighbor if he’d seen or received anything, and he said no.

They said they’d go look at another place.

I e-mailed my management company letting them know what happened and asked what was going on.

  • “Are they selling the place?”
  • “Will we have to move?”

No reply back on that yet.

Since that happened a little over an hour ago, the bees have been buzzing in my gut and my mind has been racing.

  • “I don’t want to move.”
  • “I love my place.”
  • “My apartment has felt like home for the first time in a long time.”

I don’t even know what is going on yet, but that’s where my mind is taking me.

Realistically my lease is up at the end of May. Even if they do sell the place and up the rent to something that is unaffordable to me, I think they’ll let me ride out my lease.

There’s time.

But for now, I’m trying to keep my mind from jumping to future conclusions that may not even be a thing:

  • “I don’t want to move.”
  • “Moving is expensive.”
  • “Moving takes so much energy.”
  • “I love my work area.”
  • “I love my little apartment.”

It’s Ok that I’m feeling this way right now. But I can’t get tied to the worry. I don’t know anything about this situation. But I can be grateful for what’s going on around me right now and deal with the other stuff later.

As Dan Millman might say, “Let it flow and let it go.” But it’s hard… That’s why it’s a practice…

  1. Think of this as practice for letting everything go, with little advance notice. Life in the 21st Century!
See you at the Flying Boat Brewery?

    1. Yeah. I know. It’s just I’ve moved so much. I was looking forward to settling for a few years before having to move…

      I’ll be there!

    1. I don’t usually use the deadbolt during the day. Just at night. I shall start using it, me thinks… :/
