2025 Bad Poet: Day 28

  • by

Today’s prompt was to write about something that needs repairing and repairing it.

It’s occurred to me pretty recently that I suffer from chronic pain. I posted a meme on the Book of Faces a few months back that said, “I’m never not in pain.” I asked my FB friends if that was normal for someone in their 40s. Soooo many people were like, “Um, no.” So there you go. I’ve been living with this thing since my teens, and it’s just been my norm. I took a trip to the chiropractor today after learning that a couple of my cervical vertebrae were a bit “off.”

Anyhoo, here’s my poem and “lying” daily drawing.

neck, shoulder, back, hips
the ache is my norm

sitting too long
standing too fast
sleeping too wild

after decades of this
is there a remedy?

to the chiropractor we go!

a stretch
a pop
a crack
a twist

too early to tell
too early to hope

neck, shoulder, back, hips
the ache is a little less

Oh, and Trinity decided to join me while I was writing this. So bonus pic!!

What connects with you? How does this make you feel?
