I contributed to Jesse Terry’s Pledge Music drive awhile back. When I received my CDs in the mail after Jesse reached his fundraising goal, they were signed: “To Christy – All good things.”
I feel like that’s where I am right now. (BTW, you should check out Jesse’s music. He’s really fantastic.)
Work is good. I’ve found some cool things in my dissertation data, and I’m presenting my data at a conference next week (in Puerto Rico!) and another next month (in France!!). I’ll meet with the big-wigs in my field, and get some feedback about my work. It will be intimidating to give talks in front of people who have being doing work similar to mine for decades, but it will be great to exchange ideas with them.
Regular life is good too. Lots of tango, enjoying the little things, hanging out with friends, journaling, jogging, blogging, creating, growing things, giving Willow butt scratches…
Are there tough days? Challenging ones? ‘Meh’ ones? Sure. Every now and again. But I find things to be grateful for even when those days come around. My friends moved away last week, but they’ll be living their own great adventure and will remain in my life in a different way. My data analysis hasn’t been quite as cut-and-dry as I initially thought, but I get to challenge myself and find new ways to address my questions with my data set. I’ve felt like I haven’t had much to blog about lately, yet I still find time and stories to share.
Right now I’m experiencing ‘all good things.’ Even the challenging things are good in their way. Most of life is not dichotomous. ‘Good’ and ‘bad’ interweave to create the beautiful tapestry of life. That’s not something I’ve always accepted in my life, and I know there are periods from my past where my tapestry would have been woven in greys, browns, and blacks solely because of my perception of things. Now, all of the colors are there: vibrant purples, lively yellows, somber greys…
You know, all good things…
You’re the best Christy – and write so beautifully!! So excited for your news (and France!).. All good things indeed.. You deserve it:)
Thank you for the compliments and well wishes! And, back at you as well. 🙂 I hope all is going well in Terry-land.
Don’t forget about Puerto Rico! I’ve never been there, so I’m pretty excited about that trip too. Honestly, I’m usually pretty excited to go anywhere I haven’t been before.
