World events have me feeling heavy. Sad, worn down.
And yet art has also been there helping to pull me through, empowering me, teaching me, and challenging my creativity one drawing after another since I decided to participate in Inktober back on October 1. (Below: all of my Inktober drawings. I’ve continued into November.)
But the visual arts aren’t the only form of creativity. The below meme came my way. And honestly, I feel like it strikes a little too close to where we actually are as a country. Have we actually moved completely opposite of the feeling and meaning of the original national anthem?
So, this meme got me wondering: What if we wrote a new national anthem? Together. What if we wrote an anthem that visions what we want for our country? What would we write together? All of us?
