The Prompt
The prompt I chose today was to write a poem based on Gabrielle Calvocoressi’s “I miss you poems.”
The Poem
if I were a tree
my roots would run deep
yet life
and sometimes I
uproot me
planted again
with roots reaching
out for connection
back for reconnection
down for stability
only to uproot again
more and more connections broken
not enough,
deep enough
to replace
I miss you
Processing
I think of my life as separating into different lifetimes… I think I’ve lived maybe 5 at this point, across 47 years. I think I would be a deep-rooted tree, and life has different plans sometimes… There are a lot of people I miss looking back. I cried writing this one… Feeling a little lonely from my most recent uproot.
Enjoy what you’ve read and want to support my art business?

Buy me a brew!
If we were together, and I read you my poem, you might want to buy me a brew. Coffee at a shop is $5. A beer at a pub is $8. Any amount would be appreciated and well used! And let’s continue the conversation! Share your thoughts in the comments!
