The Prompt

Today we were guided to “experiment” and choose from a list of prompts. I chose “$10 word.”

The Poem

$10 is a little bit of something
to a lot of people

it’ll buy some gas
maybe lunch out
a bean or hops-based brew,
with enough for a tip

but what if a lot of people threw together that little bit?

350,000,000 people in the USA?
half that might want to use money for the good of all?

$1.75 B…illion!!

$10 is a little bit of something
to a lot of people

$10 is more than a little when a lot of people come together

just like Solidarity

At first I second-guessed myself on if “solidarity” would be a $10 word. Because “solidarity” is a word for all people, and honestly, $10 is a lot of money for some folks. But I figured that it’s next to nothing to rich folks, and it’s not soooo much as to be unreachable to most working class folks.

So, what do you think? Is “solidarity” a good $10 word? What other $10 words would you add to a list?
