Bad Poet 2026: Day 22

  • by

The Prompt

Today’s prompts was to write a poem where each line started with the same phrase.

The Poem

What if Palestine were free?

What if we knew all of the stories of our ancestors?

What if we cared for and took care of our planet?

What if we never listed to those who criticized us in a moment of joy?

What if everyone on the planet had enough food, a place to live, and a good education?

What if everyone could live to their full potential?

What if victims, survivors, all felt safe enough to tell their stories right away?

What if we listened to them and held abusers accountable?

What if everyone actually lived, instead of just existing?

What if everyone fully loved themselves?

What if Black lives mattered as much as white ones?

What if we valued artists of all types fully?

What if our world were based on justice and peace, instead of war?

What if we shared resources instead of allowing a few billionaires to hoard them?

What if we’d take the left turn in Albuquerque?

What if we all strived to do cool shit and serve our communities?

What if we practiced seeing no strangers in our life?

What if Palestine were free?

Processing

This was really more of a stream of consciousness. Different things on my mind… Some things we can change in our world, and some things we can’t. But what if??

What are some “what ifs” you wish in your life or in our world?
