Bad Poet 2026: Day 4

  • by

Prompt

Today, Katie gave us a list of prompts to choose from. I couldn’t choose just one, so I integrated each into one poem.

The Poem

jealousy is a waste
it’s waiting for the call
knowing someone under a
California moon received it
it’s a splinter in your soul
as you look over trinkets
collected from those long dead
-a pendant in the shape of a
perfect paper airplane
-a fisheye lens from an aunt
all to come back to the
sting of jealousy
like bloody knees on pavement
like a hole in a chain link fence
that leads to
a nothingness
where you wish whimsy
and mischief would reside

Summing up

What do you think of this poem? What’s your favorite bit? What don’t you like about it?
