During my last period of the day, drama happened. The pants one of my male students was wearing fell a little lower than they should have. While he accidentally resembled a stereotypical plumber, a couple of girls looked that way and laughed. The boy got pissed off.

Last week I had a couple of meetings to go to during lunch. While on my way to meeting number two, I saw a girl I had in class last year. She was visibly upset. Her face was blotchy with crying, though she was trying to get herself back under control.
I approached her, and I said the only words I could think to say: “Are you Ok?”
The other day I was walking down Central Avenue. As I walked, two homeless men passed me on the left. I heard a bit of their conversation as they passed me by.
It was powerful.
