Day 41-100 Day Challenge

The Challenge

I’ve definitely fallen off of the blogging part of this 100-day challenge. I have been keeping up with my Wool& #100daydresschallenge photos. Other photos of daily life have been intermittent.

It’s My Birthday!

It’s my birthday today. I took the week off of work, because I’ve needed a break. I put in for leave back in March. Maybe even February. I just knew I’d need a break nowish. I’m probably a little overdue, to be honest.

Here’s a little song I came up with in celebration of my birthday. I hope you like it:

  • Happy birthday to me
    I’m not 43
    I’m now 44,
and I hope to have more

Ta da!!

And it’s been a good day. I got together with some friends this morning for a hike, brunch, and conversation. We saw a bunch of wildlife at Boyd Hill Preserve: mama and baby alligators, blue-finned tilapia, pileated woodpecker, a (rat?) snake, a raccoon (which can be out during the day), a gopher tortoise. One of our group saw a black racer too. She scared it, and it her, so I missed that one…

After the hike and brunch, I headed to the hardware store. I needed feed for my bird feeders. I ended up getting the feed, some fire wood, and a few plants: two milkweeds and a lantana. I put the milkweeds went in the front yard where it’s nice and sunny, and the lantana went in the backyard. I have another lantana back there, so it should do well. I envision my front yard ultimately become a bee/butterfly utopia.

I was filthy after planting the milkweed and lantana. Even more so because I hiked in my sandals too. (I do pretty much everything wearing sandals.) So a shower and then a nap were on the docket.

I bought a good NY strip from TrailBale Farms at the St. Pete Saturday Market on Saturday. It was a 1lb steak, so I cut it into thirds. I cooked the first of them on the grill on Saturday evening. Tonight I cooked up the next piece on my cast iron skillet on the stove. I was wanting surf-and-turf for my birthday, so I paired it with some sushi. I got some baked beans too, just because I love them so. Yummy! I think I cooked it better tonight than on the grill. (I’m still getting used to cooking with charcoal.) I don’t buy steak often (shoot, the price alone prohibits it!), so it was a nice treat to have a good steak. And I still have one more piece to cook up!!

A Birthday Wish

So, it’s been a good birthday. I am going to make an ask though. I’ve been fundraising for a wonderful organization that organizes around and centers mental health in BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people-of-color) communities. The Well For Life is doing really important work, and for my birthday I’m hoping folks will contribute its mission by donating $44. Or $4.40. Or $440. Or $4,400. You get the idea. Donations of any amount are appreciated. If you donate, which you can do here, please e-mail me to let me know at: christy@livingdaringly.com. That way I can add the donation to my goal!! Thank you!!

Closing Out

So, I didn’t put any pictures today. It takes some time to change the sizing of them so they don’t take so much memory. Thanks for your grace with a break for today. It is my birthday after all. (If you follow me on Instagram, you can see some pictures from today.)

Wishing love, joy, and connection.
