Flash Fiction Friday

A post by Keep St. Pete Lit came across my Facebook feed for Flash Fiction Friday. The challenge is to write a story in 75 words or less using the words: home, hungry, heroes, and hope.

Here’s my story:

She came home and took her shoes off. She immediately took a shower. Damn was she hungry. During double shifts, she hadn’t had much time to eat. She opened the refrigerator. A few slices of bread. She still had peanut butter and jelly. She wished some of those folks calling her a hero would bring fucking groceries. She munched on her sandwich while hoping tomorrow people would take the pandemic seriously.
