Full of Piss and Vinegar

img_3096Bubo is one of the more charismatic cats I’ve ever lived with. And I’ve lived with a few…

It’s a day after a rather intensive surgery, and you wouldn’t even know it if her belly wasn’t shaved and she wasn’t wearing a cone around her neck. Already she’s been jumping on the furniture, torturing the older cat, going on weird running jags through the house.

Even minutes after we arrived at home yesterday, she tried jumping on things when she was so doped up on anesthesia that should could barely walk. She fought to try to get the cone off her neck. I ended up having to resize Rusty’s old collar to keep her from kicking the cone off.

img_3099The vet said to try to limit her activity for at least a week. Ideally, 10-12 days. Aside from locking her in a crate, I have no idea how I would do that. All I can say is that she hasn’t popped her stitches, and she doesn’t even seem to mind that they are there.

I think she’ll be Ok. Certainly she is of high spirits, and her incision looks Ok.

But the cone has to stay on. I took it off of her for a little bit last night to see how’d she do. For awhile she just walked around and played. But then she started licking the wound.

Cone back on…

She seems to be more acclimated it to it today. I still see her trying to get it off, but not as viciously as she was last night.

She’s a fighter though. She’s not letting a little thing like having her ovaries and uterine horn removed through her abdomen slow her down.

She’s full of piss and vinegar, as the saying goes.

Like her mom?
