Poem: All of It

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, my doctoral alma mater chose to brutalize students peacefully protesting genocide in Palestine.

It’s fucking sickening. So of course, it begat art.

smoke rolls
from thrown metal

tears roll
from clear eyes

Eyes too clear to the injustice

all of it

rubber fired
from so-called protectors

rubber bounces
off bruised skin

skin too beaten by injustice

all of it

hearts break
from rubber bullets

hearts break
from too many tears

tears that burn
because of the injustice

all of it
