Poetry challenges
In February I participated in KT Kay Chelena’s Bad Poet challenge. It was a great experience, and if you head back to February’s posts you can see what I created.
One of the participants told me about the Cascadia Poetry Postcard Fest. Participants are assigned 31 folks to send postcards to, each with a poem written each day. Much like the Bad Poet Challenge, part of the goal is to let go of the chains of perfectionism. You write the poem and send it on its way.
As part of the guidelines, you’re supposed to wait at least a month to share on social media to make sure you don’t ruin the surprise for the person receiving the poem. It’s past that deadline, so I’ll be sharing my poems here for the next 30ish days, as I sent them out.
Let me know if any of them connect with you!
Day 1 poem: July 4
Day 1
and I cheated . . .
already
a full card
versus
a postcard
I hope you don’t mind
rules become
less and less
my thing
with time
on this July 4,
Independence Day,
that feels right
let liberation
ring
