A few thoughts:
To say “again?” is too little in a country that has been doing this to people since before it was a country. And yet the shock of the brutality is still there.
And ICE as an agency has been one of brutality since its founding in 2003, killing people all along the way. But as bad: ripping families apart. Putting people into danger by sending people who came here for refuge back to countries where they were hated and hunted. And every story in between.
We can single out ICE as an agency, but what about Border Control? What about local police and sheriffs lending a helping hand? All are complicit.
The civil war of our time has begun.
“What side are you on, my people? What side are you on?”
It’s time to answer that question.
