This is one of my more recent works. And one partially inspired by a sketchbook journaling entry (see below). The quote is from Frida Kahlo.
I love how the composition of the piece turned out. The flowers are largely collage elements, with dictionary page stems. You can see the stenciled flowers peeking through. The foil grenade was fun to play with, and it has a split ring as the pull ring. I also love the little bee collage piece. I did the quote as dip-pen calligraphy.
I might make some more on this theme. I love the contrasting imagery and message between the flowers and the weapon…
