Resetting

Last year at this time, I was in Portland, ME getting ready for a 500-mile bike tour around the Gaspé Peninsula.

A number of people have asked me: “Where are you going this year?” or “What big trip do you have planned?”

No big trips planned this summer. Instead I’ll check out local points of interest that I’ve been wanting to visit but have put off. I’ll focus on my mental health. I’ll give back to my community through NOMAD Art Bus and the St. Pete Bike Co-op. I’ll work for Mad Science teaching summer camps so I can save money instead of spending it.

Instead of 500 miles, today I leave for a 100-mile round trip to Starkey Park in Pasco County, the next county north of here. (100-miles doesn’t take so long when it’s flat!) I’m celebrating Bike Travel Weekend.

I’m excited about a summer of resetting mentally, spiritually, and my priorities.
