So, I bought a house! Huzzah!!
Since moving in, I’ve been working towards unpacking and making the home my own. Sometimes fixing things up along the way. I’m probably most excited about getting my firepit made.
The other thing I’m excited about is not having to store my two bikes inside. They take up a decent amount of square and cubic footing. So, I’ve been unpacking around them, but I’m looking forward to getting them out.
So I ordered a shed. None of the local hardware stores had the one I wanted/needed in stock, so I started Googling. I need something wide enough and tall enough for the bikes. Ideally I could fit other stuff in there too, but not a complate necessity. After measuring and seeing what was evening available, it seemed a 75 cuft horizontal shed should do the trick for my two bikes.
Once I knew what I needed, I bought one off of Facebook Marketplace first. Good price, free shipping. But they backed out of the order saying the shed was damaged in some way. Ok. No harm, no foul. My money was reimbursed. The search went on.
The problem was finding one that was cost effective including shipping prices. It’s a big, heavy shed! I finally found one on Ebay. I’ve always had good luck shopping through Ebay, so I placed my order. Estimated delivery was June 26. I placed the order on May 27. Ok. No worries. There’s that saying about only being about to get two of the three out of: cheap, fast, and good. I could wait for cheap and good.
Time passed. A couple of weeks in I requested a tracking number. Some sort of indication the thing had been sent so I knew I wasn’t getting screwed. “Your estimated delivery is June 26. Thank you.” Or something along those lines. At least someone got back to me.
Then it’s June 25.
Um … I started getting nervous. Was I getting screwed on this order? But I was still trying to be a good customer. I assumed best intent. I know on the other end of the line there’s a worker who is just doing their job. So I wrote a delightful reply.
Hallelujah! A tracking number!! In E-bay it said it was via FedEx. But it didn’t look like a FedEx number. The format wasn’t write. I gave it a day or so, just in case it was a weird format for things like a shed. Another follow-up message.
Now we’re getting somewhere. I enter the tracking number in this new link. When I did, it said the shed had been delivered to Tampa on June 16. I sent a message through their online contact form:
“Hi. I just checked the tracking, and it says this has been in Tampa since June 16. I’d really like to get my package. When will it be delivered. Thank you.”
Russ replied with:
“Please contact Air Surface Express at 813.884.7800 to schedule. Thank you.”
I called. The person I spoke with was already expecting me, and they are bringing the shed on Monday.
After I called, I had an e-mail in my inbox from Kevin:
“We have made several attempts to contact @ MY CELL NUMBER…..we can get this out to you on Monday 7/5 12-4 if you reply to this email to confirm.
If they called, they didn’t leave a message. I replied telling Kevin that. It’s been sitting since June 16, and no one left a message or texted me? Grrrrrr
Anyway, it’s coming on Monday. I’m not leaving the company I ordered from 5 stars. Maybe 3. They should have given me a heads up I needed to call someone for final delivery.
I will be glad for the end of the shed saga…
