Two Important People

  • by

I got to spend time with one of my favorite people on the planet today. My aunt came to Florida for a vacation. She’s staying down in Bonita Springs with a friend who rents a condo. They’ve been lounging by the pool, dining at exotic places. And my aunt sent me the details so we could all share a bite to eat today.

I forgot to get a picture. I’m too tired to dig one up. But it felt good to get lots of real hugs from her. And I’m glad she’s taking care of herself. And I’m glad we talked about some dark family stuff openly. I wasn’t sure how to talk about any of that stuff… (Related to this and this and this.)

I also got to spend time with another important person, though one I wish I didn’t have to see. After breakfast with my aunt, I headed to Tampa to talk to an orthopedic surgeon. The appointment wasn’t very educational, unfortunately. The doctor thought the cortisol shot should have worked. Since it didn’t, I get to have another MRI taken. This time a contrast MRI, which involves injecting a dye into my shoulder to help see what’s going on in there more clearly. That’s scheduled for March 4. My follow-up with the doctor is March 11, so I’ll know more then.

I am incredibly thankful I wasn’t hurt worse in the car accident, but I do long for a time when I don’t have to regularly go to the doctor.
