Valentine’s Day

Sending a little love on Valentine’s Day.

I guess I’ve done a couple of things to celebrate this greeting card holiday.

One: Well, I sent greeting cards to a few folks. One shouldn’t need a holiday to remind someone you love them, but sometimes a date on a calendar does help. They went out late, but I hope the recipients still appreciate them.

Hand-calligraphied cards.
You can check out my art cards in the shop.

Two: I also donated blood today. I was excited that my two month window reopened today. It feels appropriate to donate something on Valentine’s Day that travels through my heart repeatedly. And I feel like donating blood is a true act of love. Anyone could receive that donation, even folks who’s ideologies I don’t align with so much. We are one human family, a pretty dysfunctional one most of the time, but if only we could remember that we are one human family how much better off we would be. So donating blood is that reminder to myself and my gift to the world. Me being the change I wish to see.

My tattoo reads: Laugh through my tears; Love without fear

Valentine’s Day started off with a focus on romantic love. I like to think it’s been reimaged as a celebration of all forms of love.

So if you are reading this: Happy Valentine’s Day to you. Wishing you all of the love you deserve (which is a lot!).
