St. Pete’s Central Avenue Solstice celebrates the rising and setting of the sun along Central Avenue. (Nevermind that this astrological coincidence actually occurs on the equinox.) It consists of stores opening early, music playing along the avenue, painting the Nomad Art Bus, and more. 

It’s events like this that make me grateful to live in St. Pete.

Hurricane Day

Publication1When I was a kid, we looked forward to getting snow days in northwest Ohio. The roads would be too bad for the buses to run.

Or sometimes we’d get a fog day. Those were even better. It was too dangerous for the buses to drive through it in the early morning, and by the time it cleared sometimes it was too late to start school.
