Healing Offerings Go Both Ways

  • by

October

This month has felt heavy.

I was on vacation last week. I spent a few beautiful days with friends at Lake Louisa State Park in Clermont, FL. We camped in cabins bigger than my house. We rode horses on a guided trail ride and ate charcuterie (Gen X Lunchables??) at sunset. I got a few miles in on my bike in the rolling hills. We saw multiple deer and heard coyotes yipping.

The vacation was nice. Restorative.

And yet, as the cliche goes, not long enough.

Vision

As I write, I keep coming back to Living Daringly’s (LD) mission/vision: To empower through creativity and learning.

With that, I’m glad I have an offering on the calendar to help me reconnect with all three of those things, and share them with folks. Saturday, I’m offering a yoga class for the first time in a long time. To me, a yoga (or more accurately an asana) practice connects with all three parts of LD’s mission/vision. It empowers in a number of ways, but to name a few it creates opportunities to appreciate what your body can do and to focus your mind on “the now.” It’s creative in that you “create” energy in your body movements and move beyond what you might do in your normal day-to-day. It’s an opportunity to learn, because yoga as a whole includes thousands of years of culture that also lets us learn more about ourselves.

Writing this, I’m realizing how much I need to lead this class just as much as those who join it might.

Perfect Timing

I have my personal yoga and body movement practices. But I’m realizing that I’ve been missing the community that comes with attending or leading group classes. And I miss teaching, which I gave up as a profession back in 2020/2021 (depending on when you draw the official line). Teaching also came with building community with folks.

So in a time when the world feels heavy, and maybe I feel a bit alone, it feels like the perfect time to share this (and other) offerings with the world.

So I hope you’ll join me in this yoga practice this Saturday, October 28, at 9:00 a.m. ET. It will be a breath and mindfulness-focused practice that should be accessible to beginners through those who have been practicing for years. Please pre-register here to get access to the Zoom. The cost is on a choose-your-pay level (more about that here).

Upcoming Events

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my other upcoming offerings. Some of these offerings are very different from each other, but they share the theme of “empowering through creativity and learning.” I hope you’ll join me soon. And you can find registration links to all upcoming offerings here.

  • 11/03 Virtual Art Gathering, 6:30 p.m. ET, register here. I first wanted to call it a “Virtual Art Exhibit.” But that sounded too prim-and-proper. So join me instead for this art gathering, where I’ll show a few of my art pieces and share the behind-the-scenes and you’ll create your own art as we reflect upon the pieces! All of the exhibited art will be available to go home with you, and you’ll leave the experience with your own handmade art!
  • 11/25 Virtual Yoga Practice, 9:00 a.m. ET, register here. Join me for a Thanksgiving weekend yoga practice. Folks might be busy visiting family or otherwise traveling, and I’ve found that can sometimes be stressful. So I hope you’ll carve out this space for a breath, mindfulness, and gratitude-focused virtual yoga class

Closing Out

May we share
kind thoughts,
kind words, and
kind actions, intentions,
and love.
